How do I transcribe audio to text in Chrome?
Open the extension from the Chrome side panel, choose a supported audio or video file, and start transcription. When the job finishes, review the transcript, copy it, download a TXT file, or export it to Google Docs.
Can I transcribe browser tab audio?
Yes. The extension can capture sound from the active browser tab after you start a tab-audio recording session. This is useful for webinars, course videos, browser-based meetings, or any media that is playing in Chrome.
What file types are supported?
The product documentation and Chrome Web Store listing describe support for common audio and video formats, including MP3, MP4, M4A, WAV, WEBM, FLAC, AAC, OGG, OPUS, MOV, and related media files used for transcription workflows.
Can I export transcripts to Google Docs?
Yes. Google Docs export is optional. If you do not want to connect Google Docs, you can still copy the transcript directly or download it as a TXT file.
Do I need a Google account?
Google sign-in is relevant for account-based or paid features and for Google Docs export. If you only need the basic workflow that does not require Docs export, TXT download remains available without connecting Google Docs.
What happens if a transcription job fails?
The site policy explains that a failed transcription job automatically returns its unused reserved credit. You can also keep the job in history and contact support with the approximate failure time if you need help diagnosing the issue.
How are cancellations and refunds handled?
Subscriptions can be canceled through the Stripe Customer Portal opened from the web workspace or extension account area. Refund and cancellation details, including cooling-off rights and unused credit-pack refund rules, are described on the refund policy page.
Is uploaded audio kept permanently?
No. The privacy page explains that temporary cloud audio is deleted after processing, and storage lifecycle rules clean up abandoned uploads. Local transcript history is stored in the browser so you can revisit recent jobs on that device.
